Happy Monday once again, and welcome back to Illumnated By U and mindful Monday. Today’s supine asana comes from one of my favorite tools for my physical practice, a book entitled 2100 asanas (it’s available on Amazon). As always, please consult your physician prior to beginning this or any other exercise regiment.
Reclining hand-to-foot pose begins by lying on the floor, legs strongly extended. If your head doesn’t rest comfortably on the floor, support it with a pillow or folded blanket. Exhale, bend your chosen knee into your torso. Bend the opposite leg so that your hand grabs your foot and your toes rest on your mat.
Inhale and slowly bring the thigh of your bent leg towards the floor, careful not to force the stretch. If needed, again, add a pillow or folded blanket for additional comfort.
Benefits: stretches the hips, thighs, hamstrings, groins, and calves. Stimulates the prostate bland, improves digestion, relieves backache, sciatica, and menstrual discomfort.
