Mindful Monday 017

Hey I heard you were a wild one. Happy Monday! Welcome back to Illuminated By U and Mindful Monday. Today our pose is one of my favorite heart opening posture: wild thing or amatkarasana. As always, please consult a physician before beginning this or any other exercise regiment.

Begin in downward dog, bring your weight into your right hand and roll onto the outer edge of your right foot. On an inhale, life your hips and stay strong in your right hand. On an exhale, step your left foot back and place your toes on the floor with your knee partially bent.

Curl back through your upper back to create a sweeping action of the shoulder blades into the back of the rib cage. On an inhale, lift your hips higher until you curl more into a backend with your right foot solid on the ground. Keep breathing as your curl your head back, extending your left arm from your heart. Hold for 5-1o deep breaths.

benefits: opens the chest, lungs, and shoulders. Releases tension and calms the mind.
